North side of Belfast Lough?
Nope.

Been there though. Dropped into Carrickfergus Marina. One of the best I've ever been into and stayed at.

Half the price of anything in and close to the Solent yet far better in all ways.

It is owned by the local authority and the staff seemed to take emmense pride in their work and extremely helpful.

I actually came away green with envy. I saw the nicest Tradewind 35' ever. Owned by the british Army strangely enough. ??

What's the village/town to starboard as you enter, that has brightly coloured houses on the front, similar to Tobermorey?

We really liked Belfast too. We went in by taxi to dine and then theatre. Wonderful town with the huge Titanic Centre. http://www.titanicbelfast.com/

Many thanks David.

We didn't get the chance to visit but on a sunny day it made the front look very cheerful from a mile or two out, especially as I had just sailed solo, ( Mrs. S. asleep on the sole all night), from Gigha http://www.gigha.org.uk/ to Whitehead through the night.
Thought I may be able to anchor on the west side of Kintyre, but no hope as conditions worsened, so plodded on.
Complete cock-up on my part, meant the tide almost saw me going backwards for a few hours down through the North Channel. Should have left Gigha later and got the tide right in North Cannel.

The Mull of Kintyre looked really mean as the sun rose up from behind :(

cheers,
S.
