Where do I get a small microwave oven?

240v micro = £60
inverter 1200 watt = £250
wiring = isolators =- £ 45.00

12v micro ( inverter built within it ) = £ 300+

inverter has other uses to power A/C equipment

12v micro is a 12v micro

your choice

ps i can give you the contact for good priced invertors

Re: Don\'t think you\'ll find one that small...

B&Q

Are selling Microwaves for £47.00

H 295mm x W 392mm x D 458mm
8 automatic coking menus, 5 power settings
60 minute timer
Defrost setting
Digital clock and timer
Child safety lock

And your point is?

Not sure whether you've bothered to read any of this thread, but your reply makes no sense at all. The original poster wants a mains microwave which is no more than 230mm tall. The fact that B&Q sell one 295mm tall doesn't seem to help him.

I\'m not giving up just yet...

Too high Mickey. But thanks a lot for looking. There is a tiny bit of flexibility in the space, but it's minimal.

I see what you're saying Sailorman. But I only ever need to use the microwave when it's at a mooring with mains power. And that's how it's currently wired. Would of course be nice to use it when out and about, but i'm plumbing in a gas hob to cover that, so the microwave would be an unneccesary luxury.

If I don't find something that fit's the space I'll look inside the cooker. It looks like it's running, but nothing heats up. There's a small surge in the power when the heating clicks audibly in (a relay of some sort?) but then it goes back to a non-heating power consumption level. So either a fuse has gone, or something's burnt out. Or maybe it trips in and then straight out. Thanks for the warning about shocks - I'll make sure not to have a foot dangling in the marina...

This is not a pic from my boat, but one of the same make:

The previous owner cleverly managed to convert the left cupboard (above the cooker) into a space for the microwave. Not much space left now. I suppose I could change it back into a cupboard (move the door from the right to the left) and convert the right hand side to hold the microwave, where there's more space. But i'd rather avoid that.

Re: I\'m not giving up just yet...

Thanks for all the input everyone. I think I'll have to go visit the boat and get a screwdriver out and looksee what exactly is going on, and see what space i can maybe squeeze out of it. And maybe figure out too what's wrong with the one there. Such a shame I can't turn it on with the cover off...

Tesco's mistake - that microwave is 304mm high.

Thats a pity, was going to get one of those myself.

Re: Don\'t think you\'ll find one that small...

I've found one!

I took the boat apart a bit, and found that I could squeeze another inch of height into that space.
