Where do I get a small microwave oven?

My trusty old Matsui died yesterday. I'm good with electrics, but I'm not going to try and mend a microwave oven!

Most ovens these days are designed for land-based kitchens and are a bit on the big side for a boat.

Does anyone know of a supplier of small microwave ovens?

Ideally it would be 18"(46cm) x 9"(23) x 13"(33) (WxHxD).

I should've said 240V. I don't cook when i'm out on the water, and we always eat out when when we're off on a trip.

[/ QUOTE ] Why not? I sorted ours out. Tightened a few spade connectors and resoldered a few dodgy looking joints. Only on the "power" board though as the one on the controls and timer looked far too complex. At least I got it going again. I seem to remember there was at least one internal fuse. That/those might be worth looking at. I did have two goes at ours and I think tightening the spade connectors was what sorted it out. It is also worth looking at the switches associated with the door.

Just DON'T SWITCH IT ON WHILE YOU HAVE THE CASE OFF.
 
The cable run to the battery would also be lengthy. Plus I'd have to to wire it in. Much easier to find something that will plug 'n' play.
 
it is very important to get a microwave tested yearly for leakage, not advisable to open the case, get it looked at by a pro, sorry but that sounds a bit risky
 
Well Vic since I have to take the thing out anyway maybe it's worth a look. But some of it looks kinda rusty up top (with a possible chance of microwave leaks?) so maybe it's time for a change anyhow.

Ah the joys of boating...
 
The site offers no info at all on the sizes of any of the ovens.

The isn't untypical. A lot of sites will boast how compact an oven is, yet not give its dimensions! Do they ever manage to sell anything?

I've been searching for hours, and found nothing. Even the 12V one above is too big.
 
How can that be cheaper? (oven + inverter + all the wiring = £? ) My problem is I can't find any (240V or 12V) that will fit where my old one went - 18"(46cm) x 9"(23) x 13"(33) (WxHxD).
 
If I phone them all the assistant would do is look on the website. The only way he/she would know is if they ask one of the warehouse guys to open a box with a tape measure...
 
If you open up the casing and have a go at your old microwave Please be extra careful the capacitors and micron gun in it can retain a huge charge and they need to be discharged correctly, if they discharge across you it will hurt also a chance it may kill you. Get some local advise form some one qualified to work on them.

I really don't think you'll find it easy to get a microwave oven that's only 230mm high. Consumer demand has resulted in larger and larger microwaves. If you can't get yours fixed, you'll probably have to do a bit of carpentry to get a replacement to fit.
