This is my first posting and first boat purchase I am a slightly lost so could yee friendly folk help by pointing me in the right direction.
Firstly the potential boat.

Pre 1970 with wooden hull
Will be pure motor or a motor sailor with the prominence on motor

Intend to live on her permanently and continually cruise the Med.

So not to offend the purists among you the question is where do I live?
Classic or Motor or Liveaboard.

Sorry I cannot be more explicit on the potential boat. I have two favourites and the deal has not yet been done

Welcome. I think all three too as and when you feel the need to contribute and/or ask for help.

Welcome aboard swift2. There are no hard and fast rules about which forum you post on, but the most sensible answers will result if you post thus:
Practical queries on pbo or (mobo if they relate to fuel or engines)
Navigation and cruising on Scuttlebut
Woodwork to Classic Boats
and when you a really p1ssed off, try the Lounge.

Having asked the question a while ago:

For cruising other than UK, I find Liveaboard generally gets me the answers I am looking for

Sorry, we don't accept boats earlier than 1971 in the motor boat section, the old boaters don't like stuff with infernal combustion engines, and raggies want a larger sail area to cubic centimetre ratio than your boat.

Are you moored on the Thames? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hiya Swift2. Welcome.

Easy really.

Fixit stuff, esp engines, electrics, electronics, rigs, etc, here
Rotting garboards and other timber nasties, Wooden boat
Med marinae, launderettes, boat documents, etc, Liveaboard
A damn fine natter, usually slightly boaty at least, Scuttlebutt
Scurrilous tittle tattle, personal insults, body parts, etc, Lounge.

Just to confuse things I will give you a wooden boat answer here if you havent considered it yet for med avoid lots of topsides varnish, ther sun burns it off pronto, go for oil or paint. Also plywood or teak EPOXIED to plywood for decks as traditional decks have the same problem with drying out.

Thanks for your welcomes and replies
It now appears that apart from being a “Jack of all trades” I will be a “boat of all forums”
