I need to get a new lower rudder bearing made so I need somewhere that can machine one for me and put in some O-ring grooves. Anybody know of a firm that machines delrin? I can get it done of the south coast but someone nearer me would be

The bearing shows no wear but is leaking so I guess the O-rings are shot. As it is such a performance to get the rudder off I thought that a new bearing at the same time would be sensible.

Hi Roger, hope all is well. Have a chat with Martin in the Shotley workshop - He sorted someone to machine a bow roller out of some type of plastic for me last year. Might be worth a try.

Thanks Roger

I also came across UK palstic fabrication in Ipswich and there is a firm nearer me that might be possible - just sorting out possibilities at the mo and speaking to a few people. My temporary bodge is working well and I'd rather leave the boat in until early spring but I need to know where to go should an earlier haulout be required.

Let me know, and I will get the stuff quoted for you..... but he is excellent and reasonable.
