I am sailing around the northern Ionian for three week in September starting in Gouvia. I have an unlocked smart phone and I will want to buy a SIM card to allow Internet access at low cost. Is there a phoneshop nearby?

I ask because in some places (such as Dubrovnik) I could only get a SIM from a T-mobile shop that was on the edge of town!

Thanks

Thats what I needed to know. Getting the APN set up is not so easy without speaking greek. So thank you

Slightly off track but depending upon how much use you plan to make of the card and how often you do this sort of thing then it might be worth looking at GYMSIM based in Gib.
Fair winds.

To help anyone else here is what I experienced

Shops in Corfu are all closed on Monday afternoon and evenings! So never got a sim in COrfu itself.

Bought a Wind F2G sim at a computer/phone shop in Sivota. Needed my passport. €5 for sim and €5 for 500mb data.

To top up there is a choice of going into a Wind shop and paying them directly. However if you top up online you get double the data, so €5 gets 1Gb! To top up online you do not pay Wind directly online - that would be too simple. Choice is between buying a top up code from a corner kiosk and then entering the code online, or going online to http://www.telesuite.gr/eshop/# You can get a code but pay an extra 10%.

You have to register with F2G at http://www.wind.gr/en/f2g/my-free-2-go/login/ When you put in your 16 digit code, you then have to choose which bundle to buy, so buy the internet bundle and get double the data

I hope that this helps someone else. Overall, cheap data but variable connections

There are Vodafone and Wind shops (about 80m apart) in Corfu town. When I was there the Wind girls were out of their depth with the ? I was asking but I managed to buttonhole the Area Manager in the Vodafone shop and got what I needed - mainly a way of minimising their Credit Control Dept.
Both Vodafone and Wind have similar deals on data - PAYG little difference but 5Gb of data on Vodafone for €30/month. That fell to €14.99/month a little later after I'd had a year on Wind F2G of free unlimited data.
Shop around and bargain - but don't do that with hoi polloi staff as they don't have the authority or knowledge.
