Was told emmediatly on landing from the water taxi, to go Directly to the HM office to pay for mooring. I was asked a few questions and I mumhled something back, no teeth and sore mouth you see. HM asked why I'd bothered coming to the office. Infact he could not even understand why, for the second time, I was in his harbour. The yaxi driver took a different stance however, so when given a tenner, said he'd no change. So kept the lot.

So where am I.

The HM is a star, he zant understand why anyone would want to come to his pontoons, with a paid for berth, a 100 or two yds away.

The little Honda is just ticking over at the other end of pontoon. Cant hear it. Heating on and tv. Wonderfull sights of the castle all lit up.

Wad is with folks. We/re sort of camping out, yet with cenral heatin, internet and telly.

Its probably because the view of the Castle at night is (IMHO) one of the best views you ever get from your boat......... and compared to the view in the marina, well Nuf said! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Tom

PS Has anybody got a good photo of the Castle lit at night. I have tried a couple of times to capture it with very limited success?

Re: Where Am IWas told

I used his pontoon for short stays free, but I guess you are stopping longer. My mooring was just across the river from HM office. The view of the castle was perfect (my boat features in a few of the Castle pictures on sale) and we were far enough away from the quay to avoid the crowds, litter, seagulls & noise. Also with a twin keeler I could happilly raft up on the quay side if I needed to go ashore - drying out was not a threat to me.

major, here's one I found thro' Google. It's taken from the end of the cobb. my boat would have been just to the right of the photographer, sitting in a gully in the mud.

How did you manage to post - using my name - before I had posted?

Major, picture 3 ....what's happening there?

Rippled water ...a white line ....calm water /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Nice pics /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Re: Where Am IWas told

It's foam that comes down the river as the tide goes out. Next morning I woke up to find it piled up between my tender and the boat.
It's not industrial as there is no industry up river, but I suspect it may be something to do with fertilizer put on fields.

That line is the demarcation between a 3-4kt tide & an reverse eddy or slack pool. It is literally a line across the moorings and takes some negotiating in a dinghy. Probably dumps a dinghy in the water at least once a year. Even in a big boat it will make you think the steering has gone if you don't see it coming.

The Conwy is a dangerous river treat it with respect ALWAYS.

Dinghies tied to the jetty for an hour or so are often dragged under or left dangling as the tidal rise/ fall is not a simple sine wave due to the massive amount of water beyond the bridge narrows.

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif It's easy, just add Altzehiemer's Syndrome & perm any name from six. It was the Attack Whippets that told me to use your name instead.

PS your pics are too recent, they would have looked much better a couple of years ago as Sea Rush would have been in a couple.
