(Yes I KNOW that he advertises with YBW!) that his latest attempt to provide internet access at his marinas is nearly as bad as the previous cock-up.

Surely he MUST realise that the emptying berths at Gouvia (Turkiye bound to a man!) need a few items of encouragement to put up with his ever increasing prices.

For example, he's just decided to remove another €3 per boat from the already paid "deposit" on a drinking water key, not to mention the huge increase in the price per litre on that commodity and the hike in mooring fees for 2009.

Fanis - get your act together - you aren't going to replace exiting Turkey bound owners with many Spannish exitees - they're also going direct to Turkey!
Chas - yet again on Kentrina's "Handle"

I had the misfortune to bare boat charter one of his boats through a well known UK based charterer last year. It was a dog, 46 ft Bav, tired covered in rust from an un galvanised anchor chain, dented, seat broken, had to take it back for it to be lifted, his engineers wouldnt go to moganissi to look at serious probs, the dinghy was a wreck, the list was endless, his man in Lefkas was not helpful (IMHO) the pickup from the airport was a cock up etc etc.
I got a big refund off the UK based man but what price a ruined holiday? They offered 10% off my next charter! No [--word removed--]!! was my reply.

If he runs the rest of his empire like his bareboat charter outfit, then I can understand why you are all off

You poor souls. Marinas do not exist for providing a sevice to yotties. Marinas are a means of selling real estate. Usually the developer runs the marina until the real estate has ben sold and then sells the mooring bits to some enthusiastic sucker.
The only time you get a good deal from a marina is when it is just opening in its first year (and probably unfinished).

Methinks they have a death wish!. Have just returned from Gouvia. Moving my boat out because of the hike in prices and arrogance (including lack of interest about non-functioning Wi Fi).

They have not yet learned from the consequences of their actions - If you pay an advance year berth now the rate for the first 4 months of 2010 is automatically 5% higher than this year's 8% hikke - plus the withdrawal of the monthly payment scheme to get the discounted annual rate.

Anyway, their solution is to put in 50 or so more berths and try to sell long leases on 15 of them. I told them I could give them a short course in A level economics which would save them the pain of learning it all the hard way. Guess they think that less bertholders means less complaints and an easier life!

Does this meaqn the published prices are not correct? Was thinking of gouvia for winter 2010/11. six months at thre lower rate.

This is a "cultural" thing. In Cyprus, because the number of British tourists has dropped dramatically, all the prices in the tourist areas are going UP! Tourists (read yotties) are cash cows to be milked and, if some leave, you just pull harder on the teats of those who stay. After 5 years in this marina we are leaving to go to Turkey. Our berthing charge in Cyprus for our coming contract would be €3358 and, in a certain marina in Turkey, we have been quoted €1607.
