When will I get time?

Tomorrow I am sailing in the K and Q charity pursuit race, sunday I am sat in a rib laying start lines all day, next week I am in the office all week, next saturday I have to do a bloody family thing, the following 6 sundays I'll be sat in the rib laying marks, exactly when am I going to get chance to sort out my fuel ine problem, fix my windscreens, fit my mast, cabin light in loo and so it goes on.

I guess, I am asking, how time do you spend maintaining your boat and how does that compare to use?

At the moment I am asking myself when am I going to see my boat again! Must make a concerted effort this weekend for sure.

Do what I did, become selfemployed and say "sod the work, I'm going to the boat"
Works for a while until the bank balance hits an all time low. Do it in the evenings if the boat is close enuff, thats what I tend to do.

I'm seriously considering moving house to be closer to the boat for exactly this sort of reason.

Now I thought this thread was going to be about when will get I time to play with my Triana but no, you are like all the rest of us not enough hours in the day to do all we have to do, or want to do , and like us your thinking what comes next E type, healey 3000 or Triana. All classics in their own right, so much to do so little time....

I find the wall to wall Rugby is impinging on my time!

Keep telling myself its only every four years. Afterwards I need to get a breath of air from the lounging on the setee watching a few matches so I go for a blast of air out at sea. Boat seems to get dirtier and dirtier.

Never mind I'll make a new years resolution and get it out in March for a onceover!

I'm delighted to inform you that I spend about 50 times as much time in Use mode as against Maint. mode. This is because :- a) The boat is now only one year old.
b) I'm both impatient & useless at D-I-Y c) I'm a lazy git. Reasons b) & c) will probably mean that I will never keep/buy a boat more than about 4/5 yrs old.
I'm sure that doing your own repairs and maint. can be very satisfying and is to some people all part of the "fulfilling pleasure of boat ownership". I'm afraid I now consider life to be too short so employ someone else to do the boring bits so I can have more time on the fun part. Each to his own I suppose.
