when was

had a weeks holiday last week.

spent the week rubbing down woodwork, cleaning bilges, taking up flooring, removing dinette/galley/seating, varnishing, cutting new decks, repairing deckbeams and resetting that bloody trip switch that trips every time i put the sodding kettle on...

but enjoyed it?

oh yes!

Monday morning dawned sunny and calm. Forecast and tides were on the money for the day. Time to reschedule appointments (at least I have my priorities right) and swmbo and meself headed for the marina.
First trip on SV2 with just the two of us so we decided to make it worthwhile and do an 80 mile round trip (Arklow and back) to check the boat (after prop change) and the systems (Chartplotter etc).
What did we learn...
It take a lot longer to leave the marina compared with SV1 - extra fenders, lines, more lockers and doors to lock, etc etc.
Depth sounder off (over reading by about 2m).
Autopilot at lower helm not set up.
The lean on the flybridge takes a bit of getting used to.
I need to learn a shortcut for changing over helm control (surely I don't have to switch off the engines every time).
Chart plotter off by miles and getting worse the further South we go.
Paper charts useless on flybridge /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
The response from the trim tabs is excellent (even if they are wired back to front).
She cruises beautifully at 1500rpm (20knots SOG).
Reached Arklow in 2.5hrs after meandering around the coast on the way South.
Left Arklow about an hour earlier than planned as the wind was picking up. By the time we reached the sea it was F4 S/E on the last hour of the South running tide. OK, not exactly testing conditions but the difference between SV1 and SV2 in these conditions is incredible. Boy are we pleased and full of confidence should we get caught out some time.
Anyway, we had an extra hour on our hands so I throttled back to 1000rpm, brought the bow back down on the tabs and crusied home at a nice 16 knots (SOG) and reached the bar with room to spare.
We are very happy that we have a boat that handles very well when going slow as SV1 was too quick for us. We can always turn up the wick to 32knots + if we need to.

Day before Mother's Day, engine started first whack despite my having not even seen the boat since the start of December. Met SeasprayIII as well.

Got all Easter from tomorrow, but doing all the fixing and maintaining that didn't happen earlier so the big weekend trip may get to Shepperton for fuel and/or Hampton for a curry:-)

Tip, keep charts in cabin take passage plan (waypoints distances etc) up top in plastic cover.

Are your contorls electronic, should be a case of pressing knobs on inner helm controls to change over, should'nt have to stop de engines IMHO I stand to be corrected.

On the water right now, as for something I enjoyed a lot? A while ago, not far from Lymington..................

You are correct as Fairline delivery skipper could do it. I just need to learn the procedure. You know the score, new boat - takes a while.
