Sundays I think I change mine on sundays but that said the one I have at the moment is 5 years old and shows no sign or wear or cracks. The spare has bred and there are now 3 of them in the box.
I think impeller wear is a function of quantity of suspended solids in the water - on the east coast they did seem to wear out faster.
