I am panelling the wheelhouse on my Jersey 30 motor cruiser.

Should I fit the panelling right over the window frame, as in the 2nd picture, or let it into the recess as per the 1st pic.

Does anyone know the advantages or dis-advantages of either way? I prefer the look of fitting the panelling into the recess in the 1st pic but am told that condensation will ruin it. Also when fitting into the recess, that it will be impossible to get the foam vinyl attached to the panelling, looking straight and true.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks

I don't think I would do either - I'd just butt up to the edge of the frame, then if you had to replace/reseal the glass you would not have to remove the panelling.

Thanks both of you for the comments.

I plan to do it like the left hand picture, I think personally its neater.

I could do as PetiteFleur says, but I am rather hoping the windows will last longer than the panelling but observation appreciated. !!
