Any recommendations? Long keeled heavy motor sailer. Basic system to steer the boat.
Possible Raymarine ST4000

Edit - Wheel / hydraulic steering (vetus system) Weight at a guess 7000KG

Probably not. I have one on a Bavaria 37 which is probably the limit.

Suggest you go on the Raymarine site as there is a step by step guide on selecting an autopilot.

The 4000 has a max displacement of about 6,000Kgs, you didn't say if it is wheel steered or tiller if tiller the GP at about 9,000Kgs displacement could be a better bet. Having said that a long keeler will probably have significant directional stabillity and it is probable that you could get away with driving a significantly heavier boat than the figures suggest, I used one on a Long keel boat that had a cruising displacement of about 9,500Kgs with no problem unless you held on to your canvas for to long and expected it to cope with loads of weather helm. Under engine motor sailing there was never a problem in any condition. For simplicity and ease of fit they are good and cost effective but if cost is not a problem then the inboard autopilot is definitely the way to go.

A Mk2 which is the same drive unit as the current offering and was an improvement on the earlier versions, looking at your stats I would hazzard a guess that it should be OK.

I visited a Fjord 33 which is long keeled, 33' and 7000 kg. It had an Autohelm 7000 on a hydraulique steering system.

raymarine autopilot

st4000 is obselete now, advise looking at raymarine site, and getting up to date, spx 5 gp might be at the upper limits of your boat, so x10 or above would be more appropriate, and is suitable for hydraulic steering...
