hi i and my good lady are looking for about a 36 ft fly bridge with up to 80 k budget ,problem we have 2 kids in wheel chairs although they live independently but when they visit us we cant see how to get them on board, as the stern doors are always narrow. help.

There are boats around with more open transoms, I am racking my brain to think of a couple, but here's one that came straight to mind. Sorry, but its out of budget and its not a flybridge...but gives you an idea.

Your issue presumably is getting Wheelchair access from the pontoon onto the swim plat (use some sort of bridge/ramp - relatively straightforward and then through the transom gate. I would have thought it must be possible to get the transom modified to have a wider access. Many 36ftrs would be fine with space in the cockpit for a couple of Wchairs (might be a tad tight on some) so this may be a least cost option - get a mod done on a boat that otherwise fits the need.

Geenrally, the doors can just be msde wider by any good GRP workshop like Osmotech or the firm who did rubberduck's bathing platform (see his thread on that, currently). Cutting and shutting GRP is straightforward and the material lends itself to reasonably heavy duty "bodywork remodelling"

Darren Newton of Dazcats has considerable experience of designing and building catamarans (both power and sail) for wheelchair users.

OK, his large power cat would probably cost ten times your budget, but I would hope that he would be able to offer you some good advice based on his experiences with wheelchairs - it might be worth asking him?

A quote from their website :

"Accessibility – through Multimarine we have had a lot of experience in making accessible boats for wheelchair users; due to the inherent stability and large level deck area of catamarans they provide the perfect platform for all. The Powercat enables its owner to access and drive the boat from deck level, and from the flybridge on larger boats".

These are just a few of the Powercats we can produce and we continue to develop them by collaborating with other designers and listening to feedback so we can provide our customers with the perfect powered catamaran of their dreams".
