Gosport to Falmouth in a single engine 21fter then Hamble to Guernsey in a 25fter again single engine.

If we still have a boat this year I'd love to do either trip again /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Quiet day and Dover - Calais one hour away in a Bayliner 275 with single 200hp Diesel. Lunch in Boulogne is only 1.5 hours away.

Quiet weather, both paper and electronic charting, proper planning, use the CG66 scheme. Due to movement lat/long noted every 10 minutes in notebook.

For a day out, Boulogne (no locks), for the weekend either there or Calais.

Solent to Cherbourgue about ten years ago thought it was an adventure, came back at night into Cows. thought it was great. How things move on for me just ordered five courtacy flags today for my next big trip Poole to Malta Via Corsica and Sardinia West coast Italy then under Sicily and on to Malta. returning to Menorca August Not as scared about this as I was crossing the channel first time.
Mind you haven't done it yet!!

Run boats regularly from the Balearics up to France 212 miles and then charter the SOF, Italy etc
preporation is Key study your ports and alternatives. make sure you have plenty of reserve fuel. Make sure your boat has suitable safety equipment. relax and enjoy. Buy yourself a /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif on arival as doing visiting foreign destinations brings a whole further element to your cruising enjoyment.

My first trip was the year before last, in my F43!

Here's the video's

We left Plymouth with the intention of crossing all the way to Guernsey in one hop, but as the weather wasn't great....... (Well we chickened out actually), we decided to stop in Salcombe overnight and review the crossing in the morning.

The first video is of Salcombe the next morning.



We left Salcombe in the morning around 10ish and decided to "have a look" to see what the sea state was like. the forecast was for a F5, but with the swell coming from our port quarter, it shouldn't be too bad.....

This next video is a good one of our friends T47 at a distance.



We're now halfway across and SWMBO has coped really well, considering she normally suffers sea sickness!



This last video was taken with 25 miles left to run, by now it's blown up to a F7 according to the coastguard broadcasts so it's getting a little more choppy, but having land on the radar is a great comforter! We managed to make about 20Kts all the way, so I think we did OK for our first time!
