For general cleaning of all the wood etc down below, care to share your favorite recipe & methods handed down for generations? Or cheap stuff which works from Lidl or somewhere. :)

My boat has lots of white faced ply inside (American designer!) and I find that it tends to get tiny spots of mildew on the surfaces unless I wipe it down regularly (well, a couple of times a year and on laying up) with a cheap anti-bacterial spray from the supermarket. Doesn't seem to matter which.

A little white vinegar in a bowl of warm water keeps our oiled teak interior looking really good.

A tip from " Cunliffe on Cruising "

Cheap and effective.

The white vinegar goes dpwn the loo too-I flush it away when it stops fizzing.

PS- do the interior with the windows and hatches open or it smells like a chippy................................

I can always remember many years ago when we didn’t have a great deal of money my dad used to cut up the newspaper into squares. This we used to clean down below. I recall a day when I noticed my mother looking at my dad’s backside for what seemed like ages. I said what are you doing, she replied just reading the news headlines.:)

Well, you lot are a bit dull ;) I was expecting all sorts of weird and wonderful brews handed down through the ages, but instead, ......... Wet wipes :)

Get yourself a copy of Mrs Beeton's Household Management. Plenty of old brews, many of which are still in use today of course - and some unusual ones like potato water for mud stains (invaluable on the East Coast :)).
