What's wrong with this?

Re: What\'s wrong with this?

Software will definitely be dodgy.
It will be Tsunamis 99 with WF7 Charts...dating back to 1999/2000...dangerously out of date.
They were not as detailed as say C-map anyway to begin with.
Everybody and his dog has been hacking this around on Ebay for the last year or two.

Cant vouch for the hardware..but I would leave well alone if I were you.

Steve.

Re: What\'s wrong with this?

If it looks too good to be true it normally is - fair enough.

I am trying to get a solution for the flybridge.

Got a great set-up at the lower helm - Raymarine C120 full colour, auto everything. S*d all on the flybridge. Why can't I just have a repeater on there? It seems illogical but impossible to do. Maybe I'm getting duff info.

Re: What\'s wrong with this?

Well, he's sold five of them so far (between £180 & £280) and checking the Ebay feedback, all would appear to have gone to satisfied customers. Unlocking 'Tsunami99' seems to be fairly common these days and as someone mentioned previously, you probably won't get the up dates from Transas. However, IIRC, manual corrections etc are possible.

Not sure if I'd go for one though. It has a daylight viewable screen but it's not waterproof. Surely that's a bit pointless, unless you're tucked up in the air conditioned and heated saloon of a mobo.

Edit: Just tried the link for the 'Tsunami99 manual' download. Doesn't appear to work at the moment. Fairly powerful charting software and no manual. No thanks!

Re: What\'s wrong with this?

I suppose the hardware does seem cheap at its current £65 bid level and presumably you will have a season out of it before it needs any serious updates. Be sure though that the GPS hardware and antenna comes with it - otherwise all you have is a PC!

For reloading at a later stage to PC you could try FUGAWI (great name!) as they seem to do a lot for PC loaded gear.

Re: What\'s wrong with this?

it is not that high powered a machine, but for a couple of hundred quid it is still a reasonable buy, even withoutthe chart software, which you could easily replace. just a sunlight viewable touchscreen on its own would set you back at least £300
