...well I know its the cut off valve for the diesel tank, I took it off. The question is I want a new one (ball valve) and although ASAP will sell bits, I am not sure what makes up the whole.

I would, therefore, ideally like maybe a tractor engineer who would suck his teeth, charge me and make one up.

Any suggestions if this can be done? Am I barking up the wrong tree again?.

I asked a similar question about Banjo fittings on here a bit ago and got some lovely ones from a Hydraulic engineer.

You should be able to get a stainless steel ball valve body (female-female) of the correct size and transfer the end fittings over. You could even go for a DNZ valve ..... I don't think you will have any problem with the ball seals but it is worth checking that they are compatible with diesel. Alternatively you could go for a regular stopcock ....

The valve in your photograph looks like a fire valve which is designed to cut off the fuel if there is a fire. The wheel on the valve is turned clockwise to open it (normal valve is anti clockwise) on the stem of the valve is a slug of low melting point solder which when heated will melt thereby closing the valve. Similar valves are fitted to oil fired central heating boilers and are obtainable from any plumbers merchant.
