What\'s this?

Hi All,

Any ideas as to the what the following items are? There is nothing written anywhere inside or out?

It runs into this box, This is made by a company called Shipmate and is called a Junction Box. The previous owner had a sticker in it which seemed to indicate connections from the log (none present at the moment). The junction box has what looks like a connection for a parallel port on a PC, but quite frankly the technology looks like it pre-dates laptops.

Any ideas very welcome.

Probably a Shipmate RS 1000 log. (see label in one of the pix)

There's a guy at the bottom of the page who still has a manual (April 2007)

What's under that curved pot - looks like it may be a fluxgate compass

Not really sure what's in the curved pot...
It's something that rattles about that is for certain...
