But I think a few South Pacific islands might claim prior art to the sprung design and the placing of removable boats on the cross beams. That is how they transport the smaller canoes home. Tahiti race practice got out of hand one day and they had to rescue the single canoes. As for the hinged boat I think they tried that a while back as well, but then that was a mono hull and any patent lawyer would obviously see that applying it to 2 hulls is revolutionary. However, I think this one is safe. I do not believe there will be too many people wanting to copy it.
