whats this bit called and can/should i get a replacement?

On this block (stock picture)

There is a "d-shackle" attachment fitting, but it is thins trip not round bar and held in with a pin and split ring not a screw.

I noticed that the one on my own block had become twisted out of shape and wondered if I can gat a replacement but all the d-shackles I see are round bar type.

Probably better to replace the whole block but I just wondered what the correct name is and if they are obtainable on their own?

I know it as a strip shackle, but you can just as well use a normal D if you have one handy.

They come in various sizes, a dinghy chandler might help.

These shackles are obviously not a high load strength item Yet presumably approriate for the expected loads on the pulley. if your pulley shackle has been distorted by excessive load then that would be unusual. If you replace the shackle with a stronger one then if it happens again the block might fail elsewhere. Has the swivel been distorted?
So you might consider a new block with greater load capability. However for me I would either ignore the mishapen shackle or replace it with same or stronger.
The clevis pin type attachment is fine for shear loads. However a bolt and nylock nut would cope with any end loads caused by distorted shackle.

The shackle attaches to a U-bolt in the deck and had become distorted because the flat had become wedged across the U somehow so the load had twisted it. To that end a round-bar conventional D shackle would be less likely to become trapped I think. I am inclined to replace the whole block (£20 maybe) but thought of keeping this one for odds and sods.
