Whilst idly trawling Ebay, I came across this sad wreck of a boat. My initial thought was, "who on earth would want to get involved with that?" but seconds later, I thought, hang on....three quarters of a tonne of ballast and if it's old and encapsulated it could be lead. there's the old iron motor and the aluminium spars. There's also the stainless bits and pieces which could be scrapped or recycled.

C'mon, what's it worth scrap (less the recovery of course)?

we were offered a 80 ft (ish) turkish gullet for 1 euro a couple of years ago, it had been sunk and there was no engine. The debate revolved around the possibility of burning it where it stood and sweeping up the metal nails for scrap, it was still there when we last looked. . . .

We bought a £500 ebay boat with half a ton of lead bolted on . We scrapped the boat with a big angle grinder fitted with a diamond cutter, council dump took all of the fibreglass over a period of time.
Wait for best price on lead we ended up with 600 cash and a serviceable 4 wheel trailer. plus spare mast boom sails and fittings for our similar boat.
