What\'s the catch?

Been looking on the Appolo Duck web site at fly bridge cruisers for sale and have come accross a company which appear to be based in Florida USA that are offering to import used boats at what appear to be silly prices e.g. £18k for a 26' or 30' Bayliner - what's the catch??? apart from the fact that the Bayliners seem to be single petrol engined boats

have a look for the thread where one of the exporting agents was invited to post here

Depends who the exporter is. Are they aware of 240/110 conversion issues, RCD/CE marking, vat etc etc etc

These issues can cost a fair bit, but you can still save a bundle if you get your calculations right

Are you sure this is not Florida boats here in the UK based on the Medway in Kent? If you check there website they have lots of used US petrol boats imported and in stock! I think Website is www.floridaboats.co.uk

I am not involved with them except they do currently have my boat for sale! Can not comment apart from that,

I've seen both companies adverts. Floridaboats do everything for you and can be visited on the web. There boats are good but the savings are not so huge because of all the work that is needed.

Volts & Instruments need changing, to meet RCD they must replace fuel lines etc and then pay for the test.

The one on Apollo also looks good and has bigger savings, you have to add all the shipping costs etc to it tho.

If you buy a boat pst 1996 without an RCD certificate or stamp (e.g. US import) it is supposed to be hard to sell, particularly through a dealer. However it is debatable as to whether this is the case.

I'd search myself except can't get onto google at the moment, and the search engine here is rubbish

it was on this forum, and you'll probably find it with keywords such as:
import/importing USA MD CE RCD
etc

why?

are you not confusing RCD with the boat safety test for inland waters?
