If I've got 'em soaked in seawater, I soak them overnight in a big bucket of fresh, then let them dry slowly for a couple of days before treating them with mink oil (or some such daft sounding product).

It's never crossed my mind that my mink might need oiling, or that a suitable product exists to do it with.

Any idea of the correct oiling regime? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I'm not sure about mink oil, to be honest. I bought it for my bike leathers, but I really don't know if it was designed to stop mink squeaking (are they known for that, anyone?), or if it's made out of squashed mink. If the latter, do you pay extra for extra virgin first cold pressing mink oil?

40 degree wash - preferrably alone in the washing machine and no spin!!!
rinse thoroughly again in lukewarm fresh water and leave to dry in the boiler cupboard.
Works for mine, but there again, they are superhuman, as they can walk by themselves sometimes!!

Must be a posher version of Neatsfoot oil - made from virgin cow's feet.

Available from all good horsey shops or occasional agricultural merchants.

Makes yer leather all supple again - good for whips too...... OOh, OOh.
