What\'s more expensive?

Than Boating as a pastime/leisure activity.

My own nomination would be Christmas - when you compare the cost of running a mobo on a days used per year basis, against the total cost of Presents, food, petrol to visit the in-laws etc etc, for just one day then boating starts to look positively cheap!

Maybe we should have Christmas on the same basis as the Olympics - we only celebrate once every 4 years so that the day feels really special - we could really push the boat out - if you'll pardon the pun! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Running a performance car - my TVR Cerbera cost me £18,000 in 18 months and 18,000 miles.

If you think a boat engine service is expensive, try getting an AJP6 engine serviced !!

Did sound good though, made many people grin wildly and consistently set off VW alarms /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Another tivver fan hey, yep they eat the spondoolux I've owned three in my time, wedge 350, chimp 400, and a griff race prep 4.3 that sounded like hell on earth and set every car alarm in the street off! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't fly, but my mate-who flys a lot (the more you fly, the less- per hour-it costs),still reckons it costs something like £120-£140 per hour....

Re: What\'s more expensive?

Let me see, Costs Robin DR400 - Bayliner 275

Insurance: £1400 - £400
Hangarage/Marina: £3000 - £2000
Annual maintenance: £2500 - £450
Running costs 90kts/£110/hr - 20kts/£20/hr

Running costs not too dissimilar but with the boat you do have accommodation built in as opposed to the inevitable taxi ride from the airfield and hotel.
