I have been perusing the for sale section on here for some time now and am amazed at the amount of unused/new stuff purporting to be "clearing out my garage " stuff , not just the odd bit of rigging or repairing equipment but loads of new stuff never used as have already got it on the boat.
I am aware that a few postings are from retailers.

:confused:So what have you got in your garage ???

I know that one forumite is buying MOD surplus by tender and flogging it off on here. I've seen the exact same items in the tender come up a couple of days after the tender closes. I don't feel that he's being too pushy so seems reasonable to let it go.

As an avid collector of bargain project materials, I can assure you that I have a chandlers gold mine in my garage.
And a bright pink motorbike.

Far too much stuff. So much so that, in winter, the boat upholstery and sails live under spare beds in the house- no room left in the garage.

No idea whats in ours! Stacks of new and used boat bits, not even sure how many outboards and dinghys are in there.
Only time i find stuff is on the rare occasions outlaws visit so i escape out into 'my den'

Hmm. Sore point just now. The Old Guvnor's car has a bodywork leak. She wants to know why I don't chuck out all my old junk out of the garage so that she she can keep her car in it. :(

Boaty items - 2 inflatables (avon and yamaha) spare outboard (yamaha) Nearly unused 'Blue' cockpit tent, Unused tender cover.
Ive really got to get this stuff sold!

I think it was Wogan who asked: Why do we keep stuff that is worthless in the garage, while a car that is worth thousands of pounds is kept on the drive?

I have a Seagull in mine. Coupla surfboards and a Lambretta. Oh, and my most recent purchase: a Porsche 944.

Sails and sailing stuff is either on the boat or under my sofa!

Doesnt the seagull $h1t all over the Porsche?

My car has never set, um, tyre in my garage. Officially it is my band rehearsal space and usually has a lot of PA gear in it, but for the past year it has been the occasional home of my wayfarer instead.
In terms of junk, I can't stop myself collecting buoys and bit of rope off the beach, which are gradually accumulating in corners of the garage. Oh and I have three spare sets of oars, for some reason, none of which fit either my inflatable or the wayfarer. Hmmm.

My garage was built in the days when cars were about half the size they are now. We used to be able to get Mrs jhr's Mk 2 Metro in there - just - but when she replaced it with a Fiesta, the game was up.

Its present contents include:

- a pine rocking chair. No use for it but we can't quite bring ourselves to give it up
- An old tent that was always a nightmare to put up and which has now been superseded by something twice as big that goes up in half the time
- A very nice Sestrel hand-bearing compass that I keep meaning to tidy up
- Several boxes of mouldering childrens' books
- Bikes belonging to me, Mrs jhr and our two kids, (including several bikes that the kids have outgrown) and a tagalong, last used when No. 1 son (now 12) was 5
- A sledge (it snows for a couple of days, approximately every 6 or 7 years dahn sarf. We had our latest quota last Feb.)
- A Bombard AX3 and Mariner 2 hp (but only for the winter; they normally live in the boot of my car)

I used to have some bits and pieces off an old Enterprise that I once owned, but I fobbed them off on another forumite a couple of years ago. They are now, doubtless, providing a trip hazard in his garage instead :)

Speed Triple? Always fancied one but given up bikes - for a while at least.

Can only assume the OP is a sailing beginner and has not yet caught boat jumble syndrome. You know - where you go looking for a couple of fenders and return with your 4th Seagull outboard, several lengths of rope and a Seavoice valve VHF set that's "as good as new sir". But no fenders.

Our garage is full of boat bits both old and new plus quite a lot of motorcycle bits. Enough rope (that I cant bear to cut up) to stock a chandlery,at least three outboards, winches, fuel tanks, a couple of spinnakers, a headsail or two and 4 anchors plus 50m of chain. Could go on but wont. Wouldnt care but the boats still afloat and in full commission.

And there's Lottie Lotus and my wife's Smart Roadster in there too.
