Heading over to Beaulieu from the east a couple of days ago we were chased off by a patrol boat as we approached the dolphin - telling us quite firmly to keep well away from two or three sort of dredger craft busily working away. They were still there the next morning. Any ideas what they are up to?

Ah - thank you. They looked almost, but on longer inspection not quite, military; but as we had been shooed off so firmly, I didn't want to go and have a closer look! I would have spotted them rather earlier and probably have avoided the 5-hoot warning had I not been getting the sail down at the time. And also, of course, if I'd read the NTMs...

That of course is fake news....they are really surveying the sea bed...in preparation for digging the Isle of Wight Tunnel.... without alerting the ferry companies

No, no no! Those new piles off Portsmouth are really ventilation shafts for a tunnel that's already half-dug. All that stuff about them being navigational aids for the aircraft carriers is just a blind.

THAT tunnel is for trains ...which will eventually be connected to Crossrail....and the Tube system (why do you think they run tube trains on the IOW?)....It will eventually be part of the London tube map...known as The Wight Line...

Press release 22/11/2018 - "As part of a celebration of the life and music of The Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney's CH, and the 50th anniversary of the release of the Wight Album, we are pleased to announce that Zone 1 passes will, for one week only, include a complimentary Ticket to Ryde."

Gosh, a bridge all the way from China to the IOW!!!......well.....it would protect the environment by putting an end to all those nasty ever bigger container ships......and have you noticed.... the Chinese bridge in the picture matches the Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower........Its a sign it would really `fit in`..... When do they start?
