The shore events run October-March. In April-September the emphasis shifts towards rallies, cruises, in-port meets. Or members just manage to fit in some sailing!

PS. I missed one...

"If you couldn’t get to the lunch meets in Brisbane or Sydney you have another chance to meet fellow CA members at a lunch in MELBOURNE on SUNDAY 18TH MARCH at 1200hrs in the members bar of SANDRINGHAM YC."

And every one run by volunteers. It amazes me how much time people are prepared to give in the cause of sailing.

I really do not see why you are so astonished.

As you are not being paid - your services here are voluntary, good natured, unique, without bias, always in focus and educational. I have not identified that you have ever given advise that is doubtful in its accuracy - you limit yourself to topics about which you know. You don't seem interested in self promotion or fame. You don't pretend to be anything that you are not. You are simply a manifestation of those that amaze you - you offer your services, to the cause of sailing, in a different medium (to them).

Thank you.

Jonathan

In the first place, the lunches are legendary in content and quality, included in the meeting fee. Speakers may or may not be volunteers, but are paid travel fees and in some cases may be paid to attend. Several speakers are accommodated overnight in the cabins, for which the event pays. Limehouse HQ has to pay its way, so it may be that there is a fee for use of the place (I don't know whether this is the case). Bar and catering staff are present throughout, presumably someone pays for their time. Other venues may be cheaper but few can approach it for facilities.
