hi everyone! I was looking back through some old li9nks on my computer and came across this:

http://www.myboatsgear.com/mbg/product.asp?prodID=1064

"AnkaData; a chain counter and anchor roller that will measure and remember (in both feet and meters) how much chain has been deployed or retrieved with an accurate reading given on its integral LED display. Ankadata can be used in place of a conventional anchor roller or mounted in line behind the existing roller, should you only require the measuring function."

However, dispite my best googling efforts I cant find any current info on it. Does anyone know, did it ever make it into production? seems like a great idea in theory...

I know what happened to ankadata to a point. As we are the company www.quartz-tsl.com who made the electronics for the ankadata unit. We also help the man who originally designed it to develop the electronics.

The man whose idea it was knew that he could sell more to the cruiser market and set about developing the 2nd version to be used on yachts and power boaters but due to the 2008 crash had certain funds unavailable which meant that this 2nd level of development could not continue.

I you have any further questions please feel free to contact me at the above company.

Cheers Paul
