He was quite cross as it was a nice day and he needed to bring his boat alongside to collect his elderly crew. His boat needed about 1.2m of water but didn't understand I might have to wait a little longer!

I offered to leave the hosepipe on for a bit.

King Cnut the Great, king of England 1016-1035. Often associated with a story regarding the tide, although this was probably misinterpreted. Why are we not permitted to say his name?

Well spotted!

I caught a net around the prop whilst on a visit to Marconi. The weather was too rough to dry the boat out at the time, I went back the following weekend to sort the boat out and two of the members insisted on helping on a 4.30 am high tide.

One even came down the night before to let us in and they would only accept breakfast as payment. A decent yacht club.

The guy on the pontoon had an 'AA road map and sense of adventure' feel about him and was genuinely asking us to hurry up, in a nice way but not really getting our situation!
