What would you do?

You need new blades, and also to get something made to fill in the gaps between the blades, to avoid the tendency for cracks to develop. You could conceivably repair the blades, and refit them over some small i-section stainless pieces which snugly which along the length of the blades and again resists tendency to crack.

Despite what appears to be early breakage/wear on the blades I think I might, in your shoes, still be tempted to replace them on the basis that virtually all your electricity for a goodly part of the 5 years (and you did spend at least one to 2 yrs on your Atlantic trip, Scotland, living on the boat etc didn't you ?) came from this unit. We are paying about £1200 a year to SWEB at present - so perhaps its not that bad value ?

Certainly I will be talking to HWMBO about the possibility of the Air X again this winter as I can't think of any other method, barring a built-in generator (noisy, no space for one and costs a bomb) which could generate the kind of leccy you get out of that. Just MHO (still haven't rewired our wind gen - silly man concussed himself (and he was stone cold sober !)
