You have a wind generator whizzing round at high speed. Sounds alarming but the blades are carbon fibre and out of reach so even though they are razor-sharp there's no risk. Then you take the hub cap off and find this-

What would you do next?

Re: Errmmm

I sent the photo to the manufacturers of my 5 year old Air Marine 403. Their response was 'take it out of service and buy a new set of blades' The blades cost £115 plus postage.

So now my choice is to cough up in the expectation of having to do so on a regular basis or to think of a new solution to the charging problem.

Re: Errmmm

Guess who will not be buying an Air Marine wind gen then?

I once had a carbon fibre rudder stock sheer off on a hard beat to windward in a severe gale, that too was very "upsetting". Since then I have been wary of the brittle inflexible nature of the substance- your photograph tells me nothing has improved with this stuff!!!

There's carbon fibre and there's carbon fibre. My mast is made from laminates containing fibres running the full length & width of the spar and is immensely strong. The 'carbon fibre' in these blades is tiny fibres stirred into resin and poured into a mould, not the same thing at all.

Hi there, apparently you hold the key to making your hull shine like a disco ball due to your hull being sanded and not faired. Is this true as I'd like the same as it's too perfect at the moment. Please advise. Is true that the rigging is worth more than the rest of the boat? Just interested /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Wear a tin hat.
Seriously, I would be tempted to tell the manufacturer to GIVE you replacements or you would post pics on a suitable yottie forum.
Er... but you've already done that.
This certainly reinforces my prejudice against wind turbines.
