Over the years I have found posting on here very help full some great ideas and suggesting , as I sure others have , but what would be more interesting and helpfully is , that once a OP found what his looking for or the problem if he returned to his posting and let everyone else know where he got his part or how his problem was solved .
Is that too much to ask ?

I was thinking this the other day while searching for an answer. Quite common on other forums to mark a thread as solved and nicely close it, but here it is often the case the OP is not heard of again. I am sure I am guilty of this at times also.

But it doesn't help that there is no way to mark a thread as 'interesting' or having been involved with and just see those... or is there?

Sometimes I go to the advanced search and enter my user name to see the threads I have commented on and what is happening, but its a faff.

Just last week I had a knocking noise from the front of the car, a google search brought me to the talkford forums where the OP had the same problem and it turned out to be droplinks, the OP had the courtesy to thank the guys who helped him and put closure to the thread. It's nice when there's an outcome.

I think it would also be helpful if peeps would take a minute or two to give relevant information when they ask questions. Obvious things like type of boat or engine are often left out. We had a question recently where somebody was asking where he could get hardwood cut the shape. Eventually we got told that not any hardwood was needed; it had to be Mahogany.
Even more irritating is when people ask the OP for more information and nothing is forthcoming.

I see what you mean, gotta love the "my engines broke, how do I fix it threads" with no information.
