What wood is recommended for rib laminate sistering up against existing cracked ribs?
obviously it has to be able to bend to the shape of the hull
and what thickness laminate...thinking of epoxy glue and screws

Do you have to laminate? Oak is not too difficult to steam and bend, probably easier than you think once you have sorted out a steam chest. CRE or Canadian Rock Elm is another good timber for steaming but probably difficult to get. Both those timbers are commonly used for ribs - frankly because they are suitable for use as ribs. Tell us more about the application.

Hey Niander - coming to the dark side ? Not sure a big V8 will do much for your Folkboat. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I used oak strips (about 1'' wide, 3/16'' thick - (supplied by a local woodworking shop & Funeral Director) a good few years ago - then WEST epoxy. Worked for me albeit on a smaller & lighter BB11 keelboat.

Hope your getting better weather up there than us here, although been nice the past couple of days or so.
