What will happen if I put a Platinum+ card in my Raymarine C80

According to Raymarine my C80 is only compatible with Navionics Gold. A friend has offered me an almost new Platinum+ card. Not visiting the boat for a bit to try it, but is it likely to work at all? Not expecting all the bells and whistles that come with Platinum, just the basic chart detail.

Anyone tried it?

It will work, just that you won't be able to access a lot of the additional data such as the 3D charts etc. The normal chart will work OK. There is a big price difference between the gold an platinum + charts chips.

Thanks for the reply. Cost is not an issue. I currently have, I think, a 2005 card in my plotter and am being offered a 2011 Platinum+ for considerably less than a new Gold card, or even an update to the existing Gold card.

In other words it would be a very cheap way of updating my cartography as long as the chart functions work.

As Solitaire said, it'll work the same as putting a gold card in your plotter. IMO, the Platinum bits are a waste of money anyway.
