What trousers do you wear sailing?

I have a pair of Yellow Canterburys (sadly missed)
A pair of Asterix the Gaul Blue and White striped pantaloons
A pair of blue Regatta trousers with loads of pockets.
Straight leg Levis, getting holey and tatty now.

Sadly, my Blue Canterburys died a death, and I never got my hands on the Red-Faded-To-Pink Canterburys.

So, as it seems to the subject of infra snobbery round these parts, what do you wear?

Hi, As I am always on the lookout for a bargain I found some trousers in Yarmouth Supplys in the Barbican in Plymouth. Good value at a tenner, dry very quickly should they get wet and they seem fairly durable so far. I went back this year and the price had reduced to £6.99! Got another pair just in case. Otherwise for sailing in fair conditions Chinos, jeans or shorts. When its cold, now thats a different matter!

Mainly shorts this time of year otherwise Craghoppers as they have sensible pockets and dry quickly. Used to wear Rohans but times have moved on.

+1 and my Craghoppers have unzippable legs..so I can expose my leggery at appropriate times.

Cheapish lightweight hiking trousers. First took them on a rough Tall Ships voyage where their ability to dry out from soaking in a few hours' off-watch hung over a bunk assured them a permanent place in my kit. I tend to buy two pairs per square-rig trip and usually trash one of them, leaving the survivors for yacht sailing. In fact, having decided to do less square-rig these days in favour of my own boat, I need to buy some more.

In nicer weather, an increasingly disreputable pair of torn and mudstained 3/4 length shorts, but they finally split all up one leg the other week and I need to get some more.

jeans with fair weather. I change to waterproof only when necessary. In the winter always ocean suit with longjohns to keep myself warm.

Winter - chinos from Lands End which have a fleece lining
other times when its not hot - denim jeans
hot - long shorts
very hot, when nobody else around ..... i'm not saying!

Sadly, there is no substitute for Canterburys, and the crotch fell out of mine. When the spinnaker tape repair gave way, Mrs FC 'disposed' of them for me. I was furious for a nano second.

Cotton trousers from Timberland
