Have about £245k to spend on a coupe/hard top boat.

Needs to be able to cruise at 35 knots and be a good solid safe boat.
Any ideas?

Any way where are you going to be using it how much accomodation do you need any other needs apart from HT and speed?

Try Nimbus for starters.

Re: yeehah!

kerboom! £245 k is a very specific amount and sizeable lump of dosh. Mind you cruising at 35 knots is not a cheap thing to do.

If you want to crusie at 35 knots, the boat should be rated as capable of towards 40 knots, imho. If you want to cruise at 35 knots even when the hull is mucky with slime, it needs to be a 50 knot boat.

T'other question is - where exactly are you gonna do the 35 knots? Cos in boaty terms - 35 knots is going like the bloody clappers. in the med, you will have (in summer) more flat calm days than in uk with tides and nearby atlantic to wham along at 35 knots. Otherwise, your boat needs to be big (like 70 foot plus) and the £245k won't cover it.

I think you need to give us some more pointers. New or secondhand? And what have you seen so far? Do you have a boat at the moment? Is outright speed a key thing? Where are you gonna keep the boat?

You dont say how many berths you need but cruising at 35knots is beyond what most boats can achieve. If you really want that kind of cruising speed within your budget, you're going to have to go for an outdrive powered boat - something like the Windy 37 or Sealine C39 both of which have full hard tops and could give you that sort of speed. You dont say where you want to cruise this boat but if it is the UK, there wont be many days on which sea conditions will permit a 35knot cruising speed. One boat with a covered wheelhouse and the capability of maintaining high speeds in choppy water is the Botnia Targa 37 but the style might not be to your taste
Worth a trip to the Southampton Show in a few days time

Hunton have done a 43 with hard top which will cruise at more than 35 in any sensible weather - but not sure the budget will cover it.

good luck,

Matt
