What size mooring lines

One for the forum.
We are (to be) blown onto the pontoon however if all goes to plan we will be able to hold ourselves off against the finger next too us. We will be bow to the wind and coming in stern to. Boat is 43’ and the marina is pretty exposed, so winter F8’s are common place (through the marina)
What size warps would you suggest and would you use any rubber shock things etc. Looking to have permanent lines set in the marina, finger pontoon is seven metres with a cleat at each end only.
Any suggestions on warp size and line plan greatly appreciated

Jimmy green's website has table of suggested warp sizes.

For a permanent mooring though where you won't be in a position to inspect them daily as large as can be accommodated by the cleats may be a better idea.

Plan also on JG website but will have to be modified to suit your berth.

43' boat on a 7m pontoon (ever though about sticking to either imperial or metric units?) might be a problem. Got midship cleats on the boat hopefully and piles for stern warps

Warps can of course be too big for the cleats you attach to both boat and pontoon. Thin warps can be difficult to handle and are more susceptable to chafe. I doubt that actual strength is an issue. A thin line might well do the job but would not be used as looking too silly.

Any line for mooring should if possible be asked to provide pull (or hold) in one direction only. It should then be as long as possible to allow for rise and fall. (surge) Protect from chafe. Stretch or spring in the line is good and can minimise jerking. good luck olewill
