Hi All,

My Father in Law has a Moody 34 with an (original?) Ardic diesel heater in the cockpit locker. The Flexible exhaust hose was leaking so we decided to remove it and fit a new hose. The heater outlet and through hull fitting are both 42mm od(later measured with verniers).

However, I can't find stainless flexible hose in this size. 40mm seems to be readily available, so I got a metre of 40mm polylock like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/40mm-Flex...i-Tube-1-5-Metre-Exhaust-1500mm-/121302361847 ,
but it won't fit at all!

Does anybody know if 42mm flexible stainless is available, or what was fitted originally? I think the boat was built in 1984.

Thanks,

Nick

Certainly some of the large older Eber air heaters were 42mm ID Stainless exhaust so you should not have a problem really, give Butler Technic a bell, part number is (I believe) 36.0613.81

Take it to a custom exhaust centre like the one that build stainless steel exhausts. They have wonderful machines that will flare a pipe out by, in my case 5mm.

Thanks for the replies folks.
I called Espar today, who confirmed it would have been 42mm I'd but they didn't have any. Also, they don't have any more spares for the 04-D and limited spares for the 041-D. Their opinion was not to spend any more on a very old heater as spares are unobtainable.
Butler technic also didn't have any 42mm left and weren't going to get any more(from Sweden) due to lack of demand. However, they were a bit more helpful and suggested flaring the 40mm I have in the same manner that Hadenough has suggested.
So, I will look for a custom exhaust shop near edinburgh and try and get it flared. And I'll email Sweden just in case.
Thanks again,
Nick
