What should I pay

To be honest if the engine is as new as he says and especially if it's a 4 stroke then it's not a bad price.

Guess it depends how desperate he is to sell..

W.

Don't think it's 4 stroke - can't see from the pics... I'd prefer a 2stroke as at that size it will have more "go" than a 4 stroke.

I want a bargain, but we'll see what he says...

Hopefully more desperate to sell than my mate is to buy

Thanks - I will to some extent be buying "blind" as I have to travel a hell of a way to get there.

So once you're there, even if not quite as good as they say you feel you have to have it or you've wasted a trip

Wouldn't have it if it were a dog tho.

I would offer him his starting price of £1400 since he had no bids - take it or leave it !!. Engine looks ok, but boat looks/sounds like its been well used (and patched !!)

I've offered just a touch less - but it sounds like the thinking here is that it is worth around that.

Anyone think it's NOT worth that sort of money?

OK thanks Alistair - that's pretty much what I thought - have offered a smidge over that, but not too much so you are thinking like I am thinking, and I know you're a man who likes a bargain too!!!!

Hows your hunt going??

It's a 2 stroke.
It will bang like heck into a head sea I reckon.
Go like hot sn%t though with that lump on the blunt end!

If the engine is spot on it's worth as per what our bendy friend said.
If the eng aint good the rig is not worth considering imho
Trailer needs mudgaurds too!

Yeh mudguards aren't a prob though - easily done....

Why the comment about banging into a head sea? I thought RIB's tended to ride the waves reasonably well... It's not for rough water use really though, just fun days out on the water when the weather is nice, towing a ringo, and a ski or wakeboard if there is enough power (or even a skiier if it's really got some poke!)

I would want to check out the engine and get an answer as to it all be ok...

Flatacraft are a well respected rib, with a 30HP it should go well. The "blunt bow " will be out of the water all the time but if you hit a big wave the flat section will raise the bow rather than dig in.

My view might not be popular, but I think the asking price is OK.

The reason he hasnt sold it was his starting price. If he started it at 99p with no reserve I'm sure it would have made 15-1600 easily.

The engine looks clean and tidy, but budget for new bearings-if you dont need them, then its a bonus.

£1200 seesm a good starting point. The boat is a Flatacraft Force 4. I had one 25 years ago with a Mariner 40 - the best fun you can have with your clothes on!

Sadly we're not making any progress with the price - he wants £1650 or nowt - can't decide whether to let my mate pay that or not....

Might just hold out and see if he weakens
