What should I do?

I arrived at my mooring this Sunday only to find it occupied by another boat .Needless to say I was furious but there was nothing I could do because there was nobody there.So I tied to another mooring whose owner I know and left a note on the other boat.Nobody at the yacht club seem to know the owner so Ifind myself reduced to waiting for hium to move the boat after reading my note.Or I could move it to another mooring and leave another note explaining why I did it.Could I be in trouble for doing so?

This rarely happens where I am but is not unknown. Policy is to switch mooring strop to your boat and tie offending boat alongside using any availiable string they have, ie sheets. Very rude to leave boat on a mooring without reason or mobile number displayed, or notification to local clubhouse. Mistakes can happen, but its a bit like parking a car in your drive, whats the excuse?

Is it your mooring in the sense that you own it or in the sense that you pay someone else for use of it. If the latter then I think it's probably easier all round to get them to deal with it, though I realise that could be tricky if you get back out of hours. If I eer find someone on my mooring, which I own, when I need it they will find themselves transferred to the next mooring along, which has not been used for three years. I have no idea if it has been serviced in that time, and I don't care.

I own the mooring.I may just do what you do and move the boat to another mooring.

If you move someone else's boat on to what turns out to be "weak" mooring, who is liable when it breaks free....?!
