What setup for second anchor?

We never put two anchors in line, I wouldn't trust them not to tangle

We used to use 2 in tandem, Fortress shackled to tripping eye of CQR with about 10 ft of chain - never dragged. Found short chain better as in most situations, both anchors are off the bottom when the first is stowed on the roller. Trying to raise a well dug in second anchor when the first to which it's attached is stowed isn't easy except in calm conditions.

No need for tandem now, bought a Manson Supreme.:D

Don't like V anchors as strain is usually on one only so both have to be fit for the conditions. Also very likely to tangle if one or both drag as I've seen on friends boat, hell of a mess and a couple of hours to sort out.

Thanks for the numerous replies, all.

As is often the case when it comes to anchors, people have various different opinions on how it should be done. I think the best thing is to be pragmatic about it and anchor in the safest way depending on the conditions.

However, I am curious about something. For the people that have suggested carrying more than two anchors together with miles of chain, where on Earth do you stow all this? Our boat isn't particularly big and I have no idea where I'd stow quite so much chain.
