Over the last W/E I stripped my Hydraulic Drive unit down to empty out all the gremlins.

This unit (Cast Iron I think) has two parts, each with a seperate inspection cover that I need to seal back into place (The old o-rings are stuffed and I cannot get replacements). Can anyone recomend what I use for each, I guess some or other Sikaflex goo.

1. Cooling side thru which raw water flows (When the water pump works)
2. Hydraulic side which holds 6 litres of Hydraulic fluid and the pump.

Neither side has to deal with much pressure or heat.

Any idea's

I used a loctite sealant for a water pump which I got from a car spares distributor. It is on my boat so I cannot tell you if it does hydralic joints as well but I think it did do. A very large Halfords might have it but Brown Brothers or Partco who both distribute car parts to motor spares shops would be able to tell you what to do. I am not good at fiddly jobs so I would go this route rather than try to make seals.
