I haven't made a final decision between ply or pre-cut sections of hardwood. If I order 4" wide, 1/2" thick iroko planks from Robbins, the bulk of the carpentry is done already...
...whereas if I buy a marine ply 8'x4', I ought to buy a circular saw too, rather than sweat with a hand saw. I'm not a gifted woodworker. So, it won't be cheap either way.
