I’m in Panama under and shopping is severely restricted. I have a high pressure pump on a watermaker installation which is due an oil change. The pump manufacturer specifies ISO 100 / SAE30 non detergent oil.
When the hardware stores open I fear I may be limited in what I can find. Whilst it’s obviously best to use the manufacturers recommended oils, what might I get away with if the exact spec isn’t available?
Thanks in advance
Dave

If its only an 'oil change' then if possible stick with what is in it and don't change it until the correct oil is available. Have you checke your running hours against the pump makers recommended ?

That's a compressor oil. So you might be able to focus your shopping if possible to refrigerator truck places?.
It's not motor / auto type stuff.

Where in Panama are you?
On the Pacific side. We made the canal transit in mid March and were two days away from setting off for French Polynesia when they officially closed. We got away from Panama City and are exploring the perlas islands waiting for the situation in the Pacific to change. Don’t fancy staying here for the rainy season but not going to barge on in to a country that’s closed either. Objective for this year was NZ. There’s still time ?

There's an outfit in Panama City called Mailbox Etc. There are a few locations within walking distance of some metro stations. Ask google which one is easiest for you. Go open an account there. They will give you a shipping address in Miami with a personal reference number which is linked to your Panama City branch. May I suggest you order your oil from Cruise Water RO, ship it to the Miami address, who will then fwd it to your branch.
Job done.
Have you seen the fresh water crocodiles in Las Perlas?

That's really useful to know -thanks. At the moment only supermarkets and pharmacies are open but I'll see what can be done online.
The crocs. Yes we have. We are in San Jose and the number of distinctive croc tracks on the beaches is disconcerting. Lovely spot though.

Yeh, don’t get too hung up on 10/30
Straight’30’ none detergent will be ok
Especially in the Climate your in
Older engines, lawnmowers things like that use none detergent
A filter would be good too
That might be harder to locate maybe?
