What is

I suppose it had to come here in the end /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been reliably informed that anything with chilli powder in it works fine , but don't quote me on that /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Want to ask which is the best anchor while you're at it ? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

But please don't start on colregs and their application during race meets /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wot are colregs & where do you buy them?
Do you think I need any?

I think they're a south coast thing /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif on the East coast I think common sense prevails /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Don't need an anchor as Barnacles keep the boat nice & still. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
p.s. never did get any e-mails? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

All things change I'm afraid /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif but plans are moving forward again /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif so I'll get back to you on that as soon as I can

In 99.99% of the case. There is the owner of one yacht (see other thread) that needs them in large print, or maybe baille... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Antifouling.

If you drop your anchor and chain in the marina it helps keep the barnacles away some sort of galvanic isolation thingy. The marina owners love it as well as it keeps the weed down. You need to throw it well into the main bit of water though to get the best effect. You might want to bouy it with a couple of fenders so that other boats in the marina know where it is.

Ignore anyone who asks what you are doing. They know nothing.

Don't know about the Crouch yet, but Harlequin's bum was painted with Flag antifoul in Swansea. She was in for 15 months and then lifted, cleaned and re-antifouled just before her trip to Essex.

Apart from some tubeworm on the skegs, shafts & props she is pretty clean.

Can't help on the Crouch, but we used cheap and cheerful XM 2000 cruising this year, and apart from black slime (that washed/brushed off) when we dried her out in mid Aug, she was clear of any nasties.

I am going against my earlier advice and may be trying Cuprotect on our next demonstrator. Only concern will be how smooth the finish is. We need to do a little bit of racing with her.

I decided not to use that stuff as a mouthwash , if it does that to a boat what's it going to do to your mouth /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I haven't used cuprotect myself, but the boat i saw with it at hamble point had a very rough finish. Just looking through my back copies of Yachting Monthly, in feb's issuse D.D's article said" that coarse finish has simply provided a good key for barnacles"

Not great if you are looking for a racey finish I wouldnt think!

Personally I've always found asking around in the club bar seems to show what works well (or doesn't!) locally.

Due to rain & holidays I ended up just cleaning the underside twice without getting to add antifoul - big mistake - after 3 weeks when hauled out for some reapirs the weed was 3-4 inches long and covered the hull - after only 3 weeks! Amazing how much they love my boat's bum. At last managed to get antifoul on - won't be doing that again.

YES, NO,No

We get Shogun through a bulk deal at the yard, and it appears as good as any at WEST Mersea.

I used pellerclean this season,
It has been very good with any growth including barnacles just sliding off once underway.
Some patches on the stern drive will require retreating with seajet speed before re launching.
