I have searched high and low on google and google maps but I can't find out which marina the one marked on the photo is. Can anyone help?

Do you know if they take visitors?

Yes Poole Yacht Club. My boat is about 3mm above the point of your arrow. Members only for permanent berthing but visitors very welcome, but length limit 38ft. 10 miinute walk to Poole town centre and very quiet compared with Dolphin on the quay.

from my experience visitors are only welcome if the are the white flappy powered type of boat. I ance arranged a berth there as i was sailing with a friend in the evening after a charter and when i went in in the sunseeker 31 i was told there was no berth available for powerboats even tho i had booked an overnight spot earlier on the phone.

when i queried this with the office i was told that they dont cater for powerboats........

Thanks for telling me. What a lovely prime spot they have. But I guess I better mooch off to the quay wall with the hoi poloi

Isn't that racist or some kind of "ist"?

Surely in this PC day and age a club can't turn you away for such a flimsy reason.

That sounds like the nautical equivalent of aparthied

Pics taken from Evenstar in Poole Yacht Club 2 weeks ago. Don't know who told you this but they couldn't have been more friendly to me. Some club member residents have mobos but they are very much in the minority.

Berth was tight and the wind tricky, took me about 12 goes to get in the berth I think the entertainment delayed the start of a race. Why are there always onlookers when you make a horlicks of berthing? Still I got in in the end without hitting anything.

did you have to book or just simply turn up and either use vhf or mobile ?

Poole Yacht Club exists to provide "Sailing for the working people of Poole", so yes, it is a sailing club with an eclectic mixture of cruising and racing. The marina is owned by the club - bought a few years ago from the Harbour Commissioners and run by the club with its own staff. Berth licences are allocated according to seniority and rents cover the cost of running the marina. Motor boats are permitted but limited to notionally 10% of the total berths. Many older members move to motor and their needs are accommodated.

Yes, it is tricky berthing because the lanes are narrow to fit more boats in and the prevailing wind blows across the marina - tricky berthing facing east in a brisk SW! However, no current and good robust pontoons!

You can book in advance or call on VHF call sign PIKE
