Been away in the US for a couple of weeks, arriving back in the UK Friday morning. I have been looking enviously at some beautiful boats in the harbour at Hilton Head in South Carolina and am looking forward to getting back to my boat.

What are the conditions like around Reading at the moment? When we left before Easter the river was in full flow.

I heard last night that yellow boards are still out but they must just about be coming in I would think. Haven't been over there for a week.
Warm today but forecast for much colder for the weekend I'm afraid.

High up and flowing fast past Bray Marina.

Only a few inches below the top of the shuttering on the end of Queens Eyot.

No problem to be out on, but the EA is obviously shifting a lot of water...

I rang them up on Tuesday and queried that same point. Couldn't draw the very nice man in Reading. I'm only at the bottom of the chain, quoth he, and nobody confides in me...

But I think you're right, having had some form of rollicking over last summer's floods, the Thames section is taking no risks. As soon as they get the water, it gets passed on.

So quick Reds which just as quickly disappear.

Went to the boat today, stream still running well "spring flows" is what I call them... Lovely weather, nobody around, grounds immaculate - waiting for the punters to chew it up with their limos.

Took the wrong keys so came home. Oh, Poo.

Thanks for the replies and info. Having returned to beautiful spring weather I assumed all was calm - until I heard the weather forecast.

Some inside the boat work for me this weekend I think (which means a beer, listen to the Reading game on the radio and a snooze to catch up on some sleep!)
