Just like the Contessa 32 you mean!

Actually that is the middle size Genny. The big one comes right back to the cockpit /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Winching them isn't a problem because the boats were fitted with big genni winches as standard which takes a lot of the work out of it
The one in the pic is about 135% biggest is 160%
The hull is so smooth through the water that for cruising in anything but light airs most owners find the 105% just fine to maintain speeds around 7+ knots.
My little wife and unfit self have not found a problem.

Is there a new Lightwave? The only one I know is an older Oyster?

No, there isn't a new lightwave. I meant starlight, and it was a new version rather than a whole new boat. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Yay! You did it.

You can only post the picture the same size as it is. If you want it smaller then the only way to do that is to capture the picture, make it smaller , then re-publish somewhere else on the web.

The best way to get the correct details on a picture is to right click and select properties. Then make sure you get the whole path selected from within properties, copy and then paste into the [image] stuff.

Quite right, unless you have a Mac, in which case you click on the image you want while holding down the control key, which will call up a sub menu. You want to choose "copy image address" from this subbie and you can then paste the copied address into your mail message.

Starlight - nice boat, but I wouldn't describe it as Co32 equivalent.

Yes they are - Desperately expensive for their size/type.

be wairy of the (38 ft starlight, i think its the one) they had a really serious delamination problem. all due to the hull lay-up. the company went bust ( walked away from the problem) left the owners to pick up the remedial costs @ around £30k + /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

My folks used to have a CO32, sold it a few years back and now have a Rustler 36. Very similar boat just a bit bigger and has a longer keel. Not cheap but the R36 is a quality product.

I now have a CO32 and i'm loving it! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Yay! You did it.

Save your money.

Buy a Corribee and a telescope.

Sit on the shore and look at the Corribee on the mooring through the telescope. Looks just like a 32, but a fraction of the cost.

C&C 35
There's one for sale with Dale Sailing in Pembrokeshire.
Lovely boat, classic design and very popular in the US.
It was originally a Trapper 700.

The man is asking for a NEW boat.

You know – shiny, reeks of styrene, berth cushions in plastic bags, no blood stains on the sails, boat show brochures fill the chart table. RCD sticker, bilges don't smell of diesel, no crumbs behind the cooker, backstay held on by 50p shackle, that sort of thing.

Me, I'm just going to go on dreaming of a new Hinckley Pilot thats been left at the back of the boatshed for 30 years.

Are you looking for a boat that sails and looks like a Contessa 32? Or are you looking for a boat that fulfills the same role today as the Contessa 32 did in 1972?
The Contessa 32 was, in her day, a broad beamed, roomy racing boat which also developed a reputation for cruising. She was production built in the mid to lower end of the spectrum and early boats can a couple of quite serious manufacturing faults.

In today's market the equivalents would the First 34.7, Elan 37, Dufour 34, etc. I would rate the X-37 too up market.

If you are looking for a boat that looks and handles like a Contessa, but is available new, then the only one I can think of in this country is the Hunter Mystery 35.
