What is the difference between M20 and W20 thread?

Apparently the W20 has "a 5 degree angle on the load side of the thread" whatever that means.

Is it gas bottles you are concerned about This page http://www.motorcaravanning.co.uk/shopuk/gaslow_all_catalogue.htm has a bit about it under "Hose Fitting Information"

However BES say "The M20 inlet thread accepts the W20 threaded hose assemblies" for their regulators http://www.bes.co.uk/products/063.asp

That sounds like a buttress thread, which is a well established form, but I've never heard/ seen it described as "W"
